He worked with the chief designer and architect at Ralph Lauren to set up new Ralph Lauren shops across Europe and cofounded the interiors and furniture division of the company.
For aristocrats and landed English families Hugh St Clair has sensitively modernized English country houses. For the Christie family of Glyndebourne Opera House he organized subtle redecorating of the mansion.
For Nicholas Coleridge U.K Chairman of Conde Nast Magazines publishers of Vogue and Vanity Fair he designed a library and a kitchen. At Houghton Hall in Norfolk built by the first Prime Minister of England he helped develop a furniture range of outside and inside furniture based on antique originals at the stately home. Garden benches adapted by Hugh St Clair and the current inhabitant of Houghton Hall, The Marquess of Chomondeley are now at Kensington Palace former home of Princess Diana.
